Get a free, limited edition Bitnami tshirt!

Have you checked out Microsoft Azure yet? Get a free shirt just by deploying an image in the Azure cloud via our nifty Bitnami Launchpad for Microsoft Azure. Just deploy an image of any application and we'll send you a link to redeem your free t-shirt. Really, it's that easy. You will need to have an Azure account and Bitnami account to complete the deployment. If you'are unsure what to do, we've created videos showing how to deploy Redmine, GitLab and WordPress in Azure, and the same process will apply to any other application.

We are running this campaign to show off the Launchpad for Azure and demonstrate how easy is to deploy your favorite apps in the cloud. You're just a few clicks away from cloud hosting.

Visit Azure Launchpad:

Bitnami Library

Select the image an click the orange Launch in Account button:

Bitnami Library

Follow the steps to complete the deployment. We will email you with a link to redeem this free limited edition Bitnami t-shirt!

Free limited edition Bitnami t-shirt

The fine print:

- Free 1-hour demo image deployments will not qualify
- Only one shirt per account
- The campaign ends on July 30 or whenever we give away all 500 shirts.

  1. Signed up and created two test machines using Bitnami to install WordPress on one and LAMP stack on the other. WordPress plugins will not update, apparently due to some problem with the Bitnami default setup (failing to make FTP or SFTP connection to localhost (127.0.0.1). No sign of any t-shirt link so far, either (XL please!). *;-)

    2. Hi William, thanks for posting it. We are investigating the exact error with WordPress plugins. The issue is a typo in the configuration of FTP server and we are working on building a new image with that issue fixed. We will let you know once it is ready.

About the t-shirt link, our email provider is having some issues and the emails are held up as a result. You'll get yours soon.

  2. I wouldn't *try to use Azure [again] if you paid me. It is the most non-intuitive, backwards and confusing platform I have ever had the misfortune of trying to try out. It's almost as if its a joke and MS designers are purposefully making people run around in circles pulling their hair out just trying to try the service out. Why on earth would anyone try to fumble around with Azure when AWS is cheap, intuitive, fast and most importantly, -usable? If Bitnami built their business model around Azure, my advice to the employees would be to start looking for a new job, because MS couldn't have made a worse product if they tried. I can honestly say that Azure is the most horrible cloud service (if you can even call it that), and one of the most horrible an insulting attempts to launch any product in the history of the digital age. I'm still waiting for the "April Fools" article making fun of all us for taking the bait. If you haven't yet tried to try Azure, I'd advise that you not waste your time, as you will just go around in circles -an not the normal MS circles either, but real, never-ending circles -and AWS is just a few clicks away.

    1. Hi Airspoon,

We support both AWS and Azure. If you haven't checked out recently, they have an entirely new console, which I don't think is any less intuitive than AWS's. Of course, there are definitely pros and cons of each, but if you haven't seen the Azure console recently, I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

Also, stay tuned for more clouds coming online soon :)

  7. Signed up and created GitLab and Node.js machines, the Bitnami GitLab creation went very smoothly, but when trying to change the default username from user@example.com to my own, it didn't send out the confirmation email. Still waiting for it, so not too sure about the security since at least for now, that default account is still sitting there... I've got GitLab running on my own Ubuntu server, this experience has not necessarily made me want to jump over to Azure... The Node.js instance is running, but I haven't gotten to the point of deploying anything to it yet.

    1. Hi Sim,

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately Azure recommends not to send emails from the machine itself so it is not possible to configure sending emails feature by default. We strongly recommend to use an external email server and configure the SMTP settings in the application. We have a quick guide at http://wiki.bitnami.com/Applications/BitNami_GitLab#How_to_configure_the_email_settings_of_GitLab.3f I hope it helps

    4. I am sorry to hear that you still have not received the t-shirt email. We had many people sign up while we were experiencing issues with our email provider, however, we fixed the problem quickly and resent the emails to all the people involved.

May I ask if you have checked your spam? I will resend the t-shirt email to you right now as well. Sorry for an inconvenience this has caused.

    5. Hi Sim,

Sorry for the delay. I tried to look up your account, and I was not able to find an email connected to the name Sim Sam. If you still haven't received your t-shirt email, please email me at hello@bitnami.com with the subject line " Need t-shirt", and I will be happy to address the issue from there. Thank you.

I think I also set up everything when the mail server was down. No t-shirt link for me so far ;)

  12. Azure is asking my CreditCard info I guess they will be charging

    ReplyDelete

    1. They give you $200 to start. The credit card information is to verify your identity (Amazon does the same for their free tier) and charge you if you use more than the $200 worth, which is unlikely if you are just checking it out.

  13. Used the Bitnami Launchpad for Subversion on the 27th June and like others have already stated, I also did not receive an email regarding the T-Shirt :( .

I had actually forgotten about the T-Shirt until I received the latest newsletter today that was advertising the promotion again.
