New Bitnami ownCloud Stack 8.1 released

The new version of ownCloud 8.1 has been released and we're happy to announce that this version is already available in Bitnami.

This version contains significant improvements for users, administrators and developers. You can find the complete list of new features in the official release notes.

ownCloud is a flexible, open source file sync and share solution. Whether you're using a mobile device, workstation, or a web client, ownCloud provides your employees complete ease of use and accessibility to the right files on any device in one simple, secure and controlled solution.

Bitnami ownCloud is available as native installers (for Linux and OS X). Unfortunately, the ownCloud team will no longer support Windows as a native platform (you can read more information about it here). If you are planning to continue using ownCloud on Windows you can use one of our virtual machines. Finally you have also available cloud images for Amazon EC2, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

Bitnami Odoo is now available on Windows!

The wait is over, Odoo (OpenERP 8) is now available for Windows on Bitnami! Odoo is an enterprise resource platform from which you can manage all your business operations – from supply chain and project management, to accounting and HR.

With Bitnami, you can deploy a ready-to-run Odoo Stack with just one click. Of course, apart from the new Windows installer, you can continue using our Linux Installers, Virtual Machines and Cloud Images for Amazon, Azure or Google cloud.

BitNami is Coming to Windows Azure!

In connection with Microsoft’s release of new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities to its cloud platform, we are very happy to announce that we are bringing your favorite BitNami apps to Windows Azure! In the very near future, we will be publishing two free images for Windows Azure, one focused on web development platforms and another with development environments.

The first image, BitNami DevPack,  provides an instant development environment for some of the most popular web development runtimes and servers, including PHP, Django, Ruby on Rails, Tomcat, MySQL, PostgreSQL and dozens of others. Everything you need to get started developing and hosting your own applications on Windows Azure is included in BitNami DevPack.

The other image, BitNami WebPack, includes ready to run versions of three of the most popular open source blog and CMS engines: WordPress, Drupal and Joomla!. It allows you to deploy full-featured websites in minutes which you can later customize with thousands of plugins and addons available for these platforms.

As with all BitNami Stacks, BitNami WebPack and DevPack for Azure are completely configured and ready-to-run, so you can have them up and running in minutes.

Apache Solr ready-to-run for Windows

We have just released the Windows version of the BitNami Apache Solr Stack. Solr is an open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene project. This Stack installs and configures Solr Server through Jetty for Windows systems.

Run BitNami Apps on Windows Free on AWS

This morning, Amazon announced that they have added support for Windows to their free tier, which allows users new to AWS to run a micro instance free for one year. As all of the free BitNami AMIs are available for Windows, you can now run all of the apps in the BitNami library on Amazon's free Windows tier. Note that the BitNami Windows AMIs are currently available for Windows Server 2008.r1.sp2. We are working on updating the AMIs to support r2 and should have those available soon.
