Diaspora* now available in BitNami!

We are glad to announce that Diaspora* has been released in the BitNami Library! Diaspora* is an Open Source distributed social networking service. It addresses privacy concerns related to centralized social networks by allowing users to set up their own server (or “pod”) to host content. Pods can interact between them to share status updates, photographs, and other social data.

Do you want to have your own Social Network? BitNami Diaspora* allows you create it in minutes in your own server. It is a self-contained, easy to use distribution that makes it simple to get started with the Diaspora* application.

Once you install Diaspora* you can choose if you want to share your content with he Diaspora* community or use the application for a private group. For instance, businesses can take advantage of some of the features and functions of social networking to foster communication and enable more efficient collaboration among peers, teams and departments, but without the concerns of exposing sensitive or confidential data to half a billion other social networking users.

You can now download free, ready to run native installers for OS X and Linux, virtual machines and Azure and Amazon EC2 images for Diaspora*. You can also now launch a free cloud demo server with the BitNami Cloud Launchpad by clicking the launch button below.
