eXo Platform added to Bitnami Library!

We are excited to announce that eXo Platform (the March Bitnami contest winner) is now in our library!

eXo Platform allows you to build an enterprise portal with the collaborative features of social networks. As a product that is mobile-optimized, has standard APIs, and dozens of out-of-box features for creating collaborative work spaces, wikis, forums, activity streams, shared calendars, unified search, and more, eXo is challenging incumbent commercial solutions with a powerful open source alternative.

Thanks to the amazing community votes, eXo Platform is now ready to install in a few clicks with the Bitnami eXo Platform installers, available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X, Virtual Machine Images (VMs) and cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Azure clouds.

If you just want to check out eXo Platform, you can launch a free cloud demo server in minutes with the Bitnami by clicking the button below. The default admin user is "user" and the password is "bitnami".

What is the goal of the eXo Platform application?

Diaspora* now available in BitNami!

We are glad to announce that Diaspora* has been released in the BitNami Library! Diaspora* is an Open Source distributed social networking service. It addresses privacy concerns related to centralized social networks by allowing users to set up their own server (or “pod”) to host content. Pods can interact between them to share status updates, photographs, and other social data.

Do you want to have your own Social Network? BitNami Diaspora* allows you create it in minutes in your own server. It is a self-contained, easy to use distribution that makes it simple to get started with the Diaspora* application.

Once you install Diaspora* you can choose if you want to share your content with he Diaspora* community or use the application for a private group. New BitNami contest winner: Diaspora

We are happy to announce the latest winner of the BitNami contest: Diaspora*!

Diaspora* is a free personal web server that implements a distributed social networking service.  Installations of the software form nodes which make up the distributed Diaspora* social network. Instead of everyone’s data being contained on huge central servers owned by a large organization, local servers (“pods”) can be set up anywhere in the world. You can create your local pod and connect with the Diaspora* community worldwide.

We are working now to release pre-configured, ready-to-run native installers for Linux and OS X, virtual machines, and cloud images for Windows Azure and AWS. This will make it very easy to try out Diaspora*. Stay tuned!
